Larry O'Connor Obituary

Larry J O'Connor

December 8, 1942 - February 18, 2025

Larry J. O'Connor passed away on February 18, 2025 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He suffered a heart attack and was not able to recover after a short time in the hospital. His wife Marilyn was at his bedside when he left to join his Lord.

Larry was born December 8, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Ramona O'Connor. His father was a World War II draftee so Larry and his mother lived in several locations across the US during the War. Following the War, the family settled in Iowa and again moved frequently to follow his father's career as a school teacher. The family eventually settled in Waterloo, Iowa.

Larry was a 1961 graduate of West Waterloo High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law. Larry was an active participant and leader in the Boy Scouts of America throughout his youth and as an adult. Larry and Marilyn sold their business in Lakeland, Florida and retired to Central, Alaska in 2005.

Larry is survived by his wife Marilyn, his son William, his daughter Kristin, grandsons Joseph, Thomas, AZ, and Jack, and granddaughter Kendall, his brothers Pat and Craig, and sister Susan. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Ramona O'Connor.
