JESUP – Marlene Catherine Mangrich, 87 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, October 2, 2025, at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup, where there will be a rosary by the Catholic Daughters of America and the Catholic Order of Foresters at 4:00 p.m., and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Church and School, Camp Courageous of Iowa, or a charity of the givers choice. Online condolences may be posted at
www.White-MtHope.comMarlene was born March 19, 1938, in Fox Township of Black Hawk County, Iowa, the daughter of Christian Michael Becker and Ida Eva (Frost) Becker. She graduated from St. John's Catholic High School, Independence, IA, in 1956. On September 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gerald Irvin Mangrich at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Raymond, IA. Jerry and Marlene lived in Germany after their marriage while Gerry completed his military duty. After high school Marlene worked at Farmers State Bank in Jesup. She later worked for Frost Oil Company in Jesup. She stayed active in the community also. She managed the St. Athanasius Credit Union for many years, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Jesup and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters in Gilbertville. Marlene was also a member of the Peoples Memorial Hospital (now the Buchanan County Health Center) Auxiliary in Independence, and volunteered time at St. Athanasius School in Jesup, helping students with their studies.
Marlene is survived by her daughter, Kristine Mangrich of Des Moines, IA; four brothers, Richard (Patricia) Becker of Jesup, Steve (Jane) Becker of Jesup, Mike (Joli) Becker of Gilbertville, Mark (Christina) Becker of Jesup; three sisters, Jane (Cleo) Fischels of Jesup, Jean Becker of Jesup, and Patricia Weber of Johnston, IA; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Schmit of Gilbertville; also, a sister-in-law, Patricia Mangrich of Waterloo, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; her sister, Caroline Schmit; a brother, Roger Becker in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Weber.
White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements.
