Robert Alfred Colby
April 21, 1935 - June 8, 2024
CEDAR FALLS - Robert Alfred Colby, age 89, of Cedar Falls passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
He was born April 21, 1935, in Waterloo, the son of Carrol and Miriam (Pitzen) Colby. He graduated from Waterloo West High School. On October 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Virginia Kinzler in Waterloo. Bob worked for Cedar Falls Utilities for 34 years, retiring as the power plant manager in 1998. He was a member of the Cedar Valley Woodworkers.
He is survived by: his wife, Virginia of Cedar Falls; his son, Steve Colby of Loveland, CO; his daughter, Kathy (Mark) Bigelow of Covina, CA; four grandkids, Eric Colby of Cedar Rapids, Jamie (John) Colby-Broghammer of Cedar Rapids, Dan (Monica) White of Denver, and Jason Elliott of Covina, CA; and four great grandkids, Karlee Colby, and Ayden, Owen, and Madelyn White.
Bob was preceded in death by: his daughter, Karen Colby, and his sister, Connie Courtney.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to: Cedar Valley Hospice. Online guestbook at www.richardsonfuneralservice.com
