John Frank Courson

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts, that our family shares, John Frank Courson, of Opelika, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at East Alabama Medical Center. Frank was a beloved child of GOD. He loved Jesus and is rejoicing in heaven with his Savior. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was a proud Auburn graduate. He retired after nearly 40 years of dedicated service, from the Alabama Department of Transportation. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid golfer and could often be found playing or watching golf and cheering on his Auburn Tigers. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Johnnie Courson. John Frank Courson is survived by his loving wife Pat Courson; three daughters, Kim Richburg (Chad), Pam Benton (Jerry), Laura Snellgrove (Chris); seven grandchildren, Web (DJ), Matt, and Emily Richburg, Trey, Kaylyn and Kaycee Benton and James Snellgrove; two great grandchildren, Henry and Rita Kaye Richburg; step-son, Don Edwards (Beth); step grandchildren, Lauren and Ethan Edwards; step-son, Jim Frizzel (Stacey); two step-grandchildren, Candace Powers (Jeremey) and Nolan Moseley (Cristen); four step-great grandchildren, AJ Powers, Madison, Austin and Annsleigh Moseley; brother, Richard Courson; extended family and friends. He also leaves behind the smartest little dog he ever met, his precious Sugar. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00 from Prattville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Moses Clark and Ed Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial directing. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be Web Richburg, Matt Richburg, Trey Benton, James Snellgrove, Don Edwards and Ethan Edwards.
