Herbert E. Mallow

1932 - 2023

Herbert E. Mallow North Hills, CA - Herbert (Herb) Mallow, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023. Herb was born in Ashippun on April 26, 1932. Herb graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1950. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army and proudly served during the Korean War. Earning a job promotion with Carnation (now Silgan), Herb and his family relocated to Los Angeles California in the mid 1960's where they all enjoyed the fun and sun of southern California, but always called Wisconsin home. Herb was a hardworking, fun-loving, gentle soul. Above all, he loved his family and was a terrific provider, husband, and father. He enjoyed spending time with family and frequent trips to Las Vegas. As an avid sports fan, he was loyal to the Los Angeles Angels, UCLA Bruins, and many other teams. Herb was also an athlete at heart. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and his first passion baseball. Herb enjoyed the simple things in life, a good cigar, a cold beer, and a winning scratcher lotto ticket.

Herb was preceded in death by his beloved wife Karen A. Mallow (Strey). The two were married 61 years before her passing. Herb is survived by his daughter Kim Greenfield, son-in-law Michael Greenfield; son Timothy Mallow, daughter-in-law Cynthia Mallow; daughter Kellie Schulz, and son-in-law Michael Schulz. He is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Greenfield (Natalie), Caitlin Greenfield, Sarah Greenfield, Tahnee Daye, and great-grandchildren Lily and Kennedy Greenfield. Herb was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Olga Mallow (Braunschweig), his sisters Doris Griebenow and Ruth Ellarson, and brother-in-law Kurt Griebenow.

A service and burial are planned for June 11, 2024 at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
