Sylvia Lorraine Hoppe was born September 28, 1939, the daughter of George and Hazel (nee Thorman) Hoppe. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1957. Sylvia married David Kube on May 3, 1958, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Together, they shared 67 wonderful years and lovingly raised four children.
After her time working the telephone switchboard, Sylvia, alongside her husband David, devoted herself to their pig farm. For over 40 years, she embraced the farmer's life, a commitment that frequently included spending sleepless nights to assist the mother pigs as they gave birth. Sylvia's talents extended to the kitchen, where she was known as a great cook. Her sloppy joes, potato salad, and poppy seed torte were among her most requested dishes. In her younger years, Sylvia and David shared a love for polka dancing. Her life was also marked by a steadfast commitment to her faith, which she expressed through many years of teaching Sunday school. Sylvia's simple joys included a good game of sheepshead or checkers, and the quiet satisfaction of completing a puzzle. She also held a constant, special love for dogs throughout her life.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, David Kube; children, Dave (Barb) Kube; Michael Kube; Mark (Dawn) Kube; and Linda (Tim) Bice; grandchildren, Jessica Wesson; Kyle (Joanne) Kube; Keith Kube; Eric Kube; and Scott (fiancé Natasha Lethaby) Kube; great-grandchildren, Jackson and RaeLyn; sisters, Phyllis (Bill) Schmidt; Inez (Bob) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Sharon Hoppe; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wendy Kube; another child in infancy; and brother, George.
