Dale Arnold Young
January 12, 1931 – August 13, 2024
Wenatchee, WA
Dale Arnold Young, 93, was born in Wenatchee, WA, on January 12, 1931, to George Earl and Ella May (Gillespie) Young. Dale was the youngest of seven children in the family. He passed away in his sleep in Wenatchee on August 13, 2024
Dale was a proud Wenatchee Valley boy his whole life. He graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1949, and started working at Elder Auto Parts on South Wenatchee Avenue, now known as NAPA Auto Parts. Dale married Rose Marie Noon in 1951, just before joining the Marine Corps. Rose traveled with him as he served stateside in the Marines. Once they returned to Wenatchee, he went right back to work at Elder's. He was soon promoted and spent many years managing that store. Dale and Rose raised their family of three children in Wenatchee. In 1984, they purchased the Chelan NAPA Store. After owning and managing Young Auto Parts in Chelan, WA, for 12 years, they sold the store to retire, moved back to Wenatchee, and did more golfing, traveling and wintering in sunny Yuma, AZ.
As a teenager, Dale and his family lived in a house on Okanogan Ave, where Colonial Vista now sits. As retirees, Dale and Rose moved to an apartment in Colonial Vista, where they had many friends. The rock wall and sidewalk that led to the front door of his parent's house can still be seen on Okanogan Ave. today.
Dale's children fondly remember the many camping and fishing trips they enjoyed as a family. Other favorite pastimes included deer and elk hunting trips with nephews and hunting buddies, and teaching gun safety and target shooting to youngsters at the Rifle Club up Number Two Canyon. Dale had a terrific memory and often recalled in specific detail many adventures about growing up in Malaga, WA, and Wenatchee or about their numerous travels, including the highway number of every road he ever drove on! Just last month he talked about his first car, a 1929 Ford Model A. He bought the car when he was 16 for $200. He still remembered the license plate number, K7767, and the VIN# A149023!
Dale was predeceased by Rose, his wife of 68 years; his parents; six siblings; and his son, Donald. Survivors include daughters: Connie (Bob) Fisher of Spokane, WA, and Diane (Lynn) Polson of Waterville, WA; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Florence Young and Vada Poirier; and several nieces and nephews.
Up until July of this year, Dale continued to enjoy occasional breakfasts at Country Inn, treasuring his friendships with staff and fellow patrons. Dale's family will also be forever grateful for his special friends at Colonial Vista who gave him an extended family.
Small gatherings will be held to remember Dale and to Celebrate his life.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Dale and Rose were always very kind to me. Yellow stuffed dog when I was young and in the hospital, graduation present and always friendly. I'm Bill King's daughter. He and Dale both worked at Elder Auto Parts Store.

I was the Activity Director at Bonaventure and Dale was very smart and interesting. We had some very good conversations. I was sad to see him go. But glad he was able to make good friends at Colonial Vista. Sorry for your loss! I think of him with very wonderful thoughts! Kim Bartel
