Daniel Vance Obituary

Daniel Louis Vance, age 82, of Florence, AZ (formerly of Chelan, WA) passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, with family by his side after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born in Cincinnati, OH, where he lived with his parents, Ralph Earl Vance and Edith (Staud) Vance, along with his siblings.
In 1960, Dan joined the United States Army – Security Agency (1960-1963), and served his country with pride and dedication, as he did in all aspects of his life.
In 1966, he met and married his first wife, Joyce (Peters) Vance. Together they had four children: James, Richard, Daniel and Danielle.
With adventure calling, Dan moved to Washington. In 1988, he married Darralyn (Johnson) Vance and raised three children: Brett, Joshua and Heather.
In 2007 he married Mary, the love of his life. They enjoyed life to the fullest until Mary went home to the Lord in 2024.
After a long and fulfilling career Dan retired from Food Services of America in 2006.
In all his years, Dan owned six businesses: He owned two in Alaska along with an apple orchard, two bars and a saddle and tack shop in Washington. Dan will be remembered for his love of life, love of family and love of a good "dirty" joke.
His many life journeys had taken him all around the world, but the most endearing moments were at home with family and friends. Dan was an avid outdoorsman and was always socially active, even after retirement. Dan kept himself busy and needed to be doing something all the time. Whether it be taking his boat out on the lake, doing outdoor projects around his homes in Washington and Arizona, or finding himself on the golf course. He cherished his annual trips to Reno with his lifelong friends, and his trips to Alaska and Westport for fishing.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary (Cazzanigi) Vance, his parents, Ralph and Edith Vance and his two brothers, Pete Vance and Thomas Vance.
He is survived by his children, James (Elaina) Vance, Richard (Tamara) Vance, Daniel (Faith) Vance, Danielle (John) Carmickle, Brett (Carmen) Johnson, Joshua (Katie) Johnson, Heather (Nick) McNair, his sisters Edith Lynch, Mary Pritchett, and his two brothers David Vance and Don Vance. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date this summer in East Wenatchee.

Dan was a wonderful neighbor at Pleasant Beach in Chelan WA. He kept his upbeat humor until the end. Even with all his physical ailments, he was always welcoming and ready for a visit. I will miss him. Warmest regards and heart felt sympathy on his passing.

My condolences to the family of Dan Vance. I was recalling to my family the phone number of the best restaurant rep that I had ever had. Dan helped me out as I ventured into the food service business and was always a kind, gentle friend.
