Otis Vance Obituary
Born September 10, 1930, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Charlie Vance and Patsy E. (Davis) Vance.
Otis was a dedicated husband to Violet (Bailey) Vance, his loving wife of 50 years, and a devoted father and grandfather. He was of the Christian faith. He worked in the coal mines for many years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet (Bailey) Vance; sisters Hattie Blackburn, Goldie Hurley, Thelma Keene, Setha Endicott, and Gladys Hurley; brother Garland Vance; half-brothers Bill Jackson and Ireland Jackson.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Dove Vance and wife, Dianne Kay (Baker) Vance of Radford, VA; grandson Tommy Vance and wife, Jessica (Green) Vance of Shawsville, VA; one sister, Glenna Keaton of Sophia, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at the Shortridge Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, VA on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. with Elders Danny C. Justus, Danny McCoy, Stanley Stacy, and Steve Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Family Cemetery, John Branch Road of Main Knox, Hurley, VA.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, February 5, 2026, after 6:00 p.m. with evening services beginning at 7:00 p.m.
