Glenda Ritter Obituary

Glenda Lee Ritter of Manson, Washington, peacefully passed away at home on January 2, 2026, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Glenda was born in Washington, D.C., and was the best thing to happen on Pennsylvania Avenue for the past 73 years. Growing up a military brat, she lived in many places around the world. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Ritter, and they had planned to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary later in January.
Glenda had a passion for helping young children and worked for many years in elementary schools, ending her career as the "Rainbow Room Lady" in the Primary Intervention Program at Lincoln Elementary in Wenatchee, where she was also known as "Glitter Ritter."
Glenda found joy in many things throughout her life: her love of country; traveling the globe with her husband; walking in nature; spending time with her children and grandchildren; doting on her cocker spaniels; collecting napkins from restaurants around the world; caring for local squirrels, hummingbirds, and other creatures; cheering on the Seahawks; decorating her lovely home; playing games with family-especially if money was involved; and competing in radio contests, through which she won six vacations.
She is survived by her husband; her sister; her daughter and daughter-in-law; her son and daughter-in-law; and her grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of gifts, Glenda encouraged donations to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.
Our family would like to thank the team at Confluence Hospice for the loving care they gave Glenda throughout her last months.
Glenda will be with us always-especially every time we see a rainbow or a hummingbird.

Glenda and I worked for many years as friends and colleagues at Lincoln Elementary. She was the incredibly caring Rainbow Room teacher whose heart for children was boundless. She understood children so very well, was non-judgmental and her kind and caring heart for children created a world of love for each child. I am very saddened by her passing and will always remember my wonderful friend! Rest in Peace.

Glenda and Bill were neighbors in Wenatchee. They were always fun to visit both here and in Chelan. We appreciate good neighbors and they were just that. Around the neighborhood they would walk, always with a smile and steady walk to exercise and mingle a bit too. Glenda and Bill were both kindly and would help whenever they could. We looked forward to their annual Christmas cards with their donning of Santa Hats in some fun, beautiful location. Prayers of peace and comfort to the family. Colleen and Dennis P

I met Glenda at Lincoln School. Glenda always had a big smile for everyone that warmed your heart. We shared dog stories and gardening tips that I use all the time. Glenda made a difference in the lives of many. A life well lived. Hugs to Bill and all her family.

I loved sharing the lunchroom with Glenda when I worked at Lincoln Elementary as a school nurse. We would swap stories of our day and support for one another during days of great challenge. She always lit up the room with her laughter and her smiles. She will be missed.
