Ronald Clifford O'Neal
July 5, 1941 - August 29, 2024
Ronald (Ron) Clifford O'Neal, died peacefully at home surrounded by the two step-daughters he helped raise: Janie Flores and Lisa Abel.
He was born in Oakes, ND to Clifford and Ethel O'Neal. Ron attended school in Oakes, graduating High School in 1959.
Ron moved to Wenatchee, WA and attended Wenatchee Valley College for two years. He then transferred to Washington State University and graduated in 1964. Upon graduating, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve, attending Officers Candidate School, Supply Course School, and was then assigned to the USS Joseph Strauss DDG-16 as Disbursing Officer. The Strauss provided gun fire support in the Gulf of Tonkin, during the Vietnam War. Ron was honorably discharged in 1968.
Ron returned to Wenatchee from active duty to work at the Craftsman Printing Company as a salesman. Then, Ron took over operations of the Igloo Tavern, a family-owned business for 25 years.
Ron married Roberta (Bobbie) Hurt in 1977. They had an active life together: fishing, hunting, camping, motorhome trips, trips abroad, and watching their family grow.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Roberta (Bobbie) O'Neal; mother, Ethel O'Neal; father, Clifford O'Neal; and sister, Lavonne Resnick (Melvin). He is survived by four step-children, Norma McVay, Jack Hurt, Janie Flores, and Lisa Abel; ten grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
