Sarah Jane Dory-Knighten
October 1, 1933 - August 11, 2025
Sarah Jane Dory-Knighten, 91, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, in Wenatchee, WA, surrounded by family. She was born October 1, 1933, in Snowflake, AZ, to Habert Loren Dory and Pearl Smith-Dory. After graduating from Chandler High School, she married Jess Willard Knighten Sr. Together, they made their home in small mining towns throughout Arizona before settling in Washington. Following Jess's passing, Sarah, at age 39, earned her nursing degree while raising their twelve children, beginning a 20-year career in the Wenatchee Valley.
In 1998, she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Africa Cape Town Mission, a treasured chapter in her life.
She is survived by her children: Bob (Missy), Chuck (Cindy), Paul, Mark, Scott (Susan), Doug, Kimberly Sinclair (Scott), Lisa Fairchild (Jeff), Eric, and Phillip (Trina); her brother, Rudy Dory; 40 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess, and two sons, Jess Jr. and John.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 25, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 667 10th St NE, East Wenatchee, WA.
