JoAnne H. Mealia 82 of Scotch Plains died peacefully at home after a 2 year valiant battle with Lung Cancer.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday October 21, 2025, 11am at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, 2032 Westfield Avenue,Scotch Plains. The Interment will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm at the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to : Overlook Foundation
JoAnne was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ, living in Elizabeth, NJ from 1965 until 1971 when she settled in Scotch Plains. She was a 1961 graduate of Plainfield High School, upon graduation from H.S., JoAnne went to work for the Elizabeth District office of Social Security and was employed until 1971 when she began her family. JoAnne was married to her soul mate and love of her life William in 1965, at St Marys Church in Plainfield.
JoAnne was active member of the PTA with Evergreen, Park Middle and SPF high school while her children attended the schools. She enjoyed her Monica Pl. Bridge Club weekly card games. JoAnne was very proud of being a member of the St Bartholomew Bereavement Ministry, over the past 23 years.
JoAnne is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years William J. Mealia, loving Daughters Maureen Alger and Nancy McGovern, Son in law
Oden Alger. Cherished grandchildren Elizabeth & Matthew Alger, and Lauren E. Mc Govern.
