Charles Ewart Obituary
Charles William "Charlie" Ewart, age 87, of Geneva, IN, passed away at 9:05 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, August 6, 1938 in Huntington, IN, to Emmett E. Ewart and Marcille (Chase) Ewart-Ramsey, who both preceded him in death. He married Veda Mae (Smith) Ewart on May 23, 1987.
Charlie was a 1957 graduate of Rock Creek High School. He worked at Modern Mill in Bluffton, Kitco in Bluffton, Home Dairy in Berne, and EPC in Geneva. For 30 years, he was affiliated with Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva, and was a part of the Downing & Glancy Coffee Club. Charlie was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Geneva VFW and the American Legion, and in 2022 he participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC. He attended Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene. Charlie enjoyed fishing, watching sports, , riding on his pontoon boat, and most of all, spending time with his family.
He will be forever missed by his wife – Veda Ewart of Berne, IN; sons, Kevin (Cathy) Ewart of Bluffton, IN, Scott (Cammie) Ewart of Mooresville, IN, Earl (Lynn) Ewart of Markleville, IN, and Larry (Peg) Augsburger of Geneva, IN; daughter, Anita (Shawn) Miller of Berne, IN; sister, Bonnie Blessing of Fort Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren; numerous loving great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Emmett and Marcille Ewart; daughter, Sandy Ewart; brothers, Robert Ewart and Ronald Ramsey.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington Street, Geneva, on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva with Pastor Wilbur Taylor and Pastor Chris Kruchkow officiating; viewing will be held one hour before the service. Interment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, the Geneva VFW, and the Berne American Legion.
