Richard Lash Obituary

Richard F. "Dick" Lash, 90, of New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Floyd and Clara (Sordelet) Lash. He was an active member of New Haven United Methodist Church. Many lives were touched by his little scripture cards he always had in his pocket spreading the word one little kiddo (and big kiddos) at a time. He worked at International Harvester for 30 years and Dana Corp for 11 years, retiring in 1996. He served as the official Santa for the City of New Haven and Grabill for many years. He was a jolly old elf spreading Christmas joy to many. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, enjoyed woodworking, and singing with the Summit City Barbershop Chorus. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Beverly; children, Cynthia (Joseph) Oberlin, Janice (Randall) Garringer, Michelle (Michael) Gibson, Lawrence (Marla) Lash, and Laura Mills; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Miller, Mary Jo Franke, and Julia Bird. Funeral service is 11 am Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy E, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, August 11, 2025, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd.930 E. New Haven. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Yesterday

The Max Brand family send sincere condolences and prayers to the Lash family. Dick was the most giving man our church family had. He always stepped up to the plate to help others, organize MYF which included all the fantastic weekends at Epworth, and church functions. His positive energy was infectious! What a blessing for you all that Dick had such a full life and his legacy is his children.
