Sue Berry Obituary

Sue Ellen Berry, 85, of Avilla, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Ascension Sacred Heart in Avilla. She was born July 2, 1940, in Auburn, Indiana to Dale H. and Naomi R. (Garman) Heitz. Sue married Donald W. Berry on March 2, 1973, in Auburn, Indiana, and he passed away January 7, 2018. She was a bookkeeper for several various organizations. She was bookkeeper for the companies that she co-owned with her husband Don. Sue especially enjoyed working for Mid City Typewriter and Carlin Park Elementary School in Angola. Sue was a member of the New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Sue loved playing the piano and also loved all of her cats. Surviving are two children, Charis and John Berry of Auburn, Indiana, and Craig Halliday of Auburn, New York; two grandchildren, Aaron (Katie) Berry of Broomfield, Colorado and Alyssa (Tom) Kehoe of Indianapolis; two great grandchildren, Quinn Kehoe and Brooks Berry; and a brother-in-law, Dick Burtch of Pleasant Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Jan Burtch. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1605 Center St., Auburn, with Chaplain Tom Novy officiating. Memorial donations may be directed to the DeKalb Humane Society, P. O. Box 806, Auburn, IN 46706.
