Barbara Schumacher Obituary

Barbara C. "Bobbie" Schumacher, 83, of Allentown, died January 19, 2025 in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the former wife of the late David J. Schumacher of Emmaus. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Arthur T. and Mildred S.(Shoemaker) Claffee. She was a graduate of Susquehanna University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Bobbie taught 7th and 8th grade English at Moorestown Junior High School in Moorestown, NJ for 5 years until she stopped to raise her children. Bobbie was last employed at Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC as a receptionist. She retired to spend more time with her grandchildren, do gardening and reading. She also loved to play bridge, attend Bible Study and visit Ocean City, New Jersey. Bobbie was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown. Survivors: Daughter: Lauren J. wife of Sean Will of Allentown, Son: Peter Schumacher and his wife Paige of Midlothian, VA and Grandchildren: Morgan and Sarah Will and Katie, Jake and Matthew Schumacher. She was preceded in death by a Brother: Richard Claffee. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11 A.M. in the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown 3231 W. Tilghman St. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the ALS Association or to Animals in Distress.
