Betty J. Correll

Betty J. Correll (Shupp), 97, a resident of Phoebe Allentown, formerly of Plainfield Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. She and her husband, Samuel E. Correll celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Born December 19, 1927 in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Erba (Frantz) Shupp. Betty graduated from Palmerton High School and worked more than forty years as a machine operator for Valerie Fashions and Gaye Sportswear, both in Wind Gap and A & H Sportswear in Nazareth before retiring in 1989. She was very active in community services and was a charter member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Plainfield Township Volunteer Fire Co. where she and her husband volunteered their time catering events for many years alongside the best group of volunteers in Plainfield Township. After she retired, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels deliveri8ng meals to seniors and shut-ins. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV with family and friends. Betty was an avid seamstress, enjoyed cross stitching and quilting. If there was a BINGO game scheduled, you could count on her being there. She also passed her time playing cards and doing puzzles. Betty is survived by her son, Donald Correll and his wife Christine of Naples, FL; her daughters Barbara George and her husband William of Moore Township and Lori Stecz and her husband John of Pen Argyl; five grandchildren, Steven, Eric, Alison, Michael and Tyler; ten great grandchildren, Caroline, Bridget, Lindsey, Natalie, Jackson, Nora, Sam, Wyatt, Bennett and Violet and her sister, Margaret Hahn and her husband Larry of Palmerton. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Smith. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 3 from St. Matthew's ECC in Kunkletown with Rev. Wil Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service from the church.
