Betty Snyder Obituary

Betty J. ("Aunt Betty") Snyder, 92, of Smithfield Township, died Monday morning, August 18, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe Campus in Bartonsville. She was the widow of James Snyder with whom she shared 69 years of marriage at the time of his death on October 7, 2021. Born on June 24, 1933 at home in Tannersville, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Lottie (Frantz) Werkheiser and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. She worked for the former Ronson Corporation for 25 years. Betty was a member of the Delaware Water Gap Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are four sons, Keith J. Snyder (Judy) of East Stroudsburg, Kevin J. Snyder (Carol) of East Stroudsburg, Kurt J. Snyder (Andrea) of Hempstead, NC and Kris J. Snyder (Amy) of Stroudsburg; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, George Werkheiser of Tannersville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Werkheiser and Harold Werkheiser; and two sisters, Catherine Rowe and Mary Wagner. As per her wishes, there will be no services and private burial will take place at a later date in the Tannersville Union Cemetery.
