Bruce Shoemaker

Bruce Shoemaker, 87, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 30, 1938, in Allentown, he was the son of the late George and Katherine Etta (Ressler) Shoemaker. Bruce was a proud graduate of Allentown High School, class of 1956. After school, he served honorably in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped his life with discipline and lasting friendships. Following his service, he began a long and rewarding career with Bethlehem Steel in the Research Labs, where he worked until retirement. During his time there, he was proud to hold several patents, a testament to his skill and innovation. Family meant everything to Bruce. He was married to his beloved wife, Christine (Seip) Shoemaker, for over 66 years, sharing a lifetime of love and devotion. Bruce had a love for the outdoors and spent many happy days hunting and fishing. He especially loved boating on Lake Wallenpaupack, where he made countless memories with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Keystone Rod and Gun Club and the American Legion. He also enjoyed flying and earned his license as a private pilot, a hobby that brought him great freedom and excitement. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Whitehall. Survivors: he will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Christine; son, Bruce Shoemaker and wife Karen; siblings, Elizabeth Hildabrandt and husband George, Karen Shoemaker, and David Shoemaker; grandchildren, Heather and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Blake and Brock. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Lou Shoemaker Jordan and son in law Leonard Jordan. Services: A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem. Bruce's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
