Charles Wagner Obituary

Charles "Charlie" W. Wagner, 91, of Whitehall. passed away surrounded by his loving wife at home on Tuesday October 7, 2025. Charlie was the husband of Nikki (Gallucci) Wagner with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Charlie was born in Maspeth, NY to the late Charles and Pauline (Wagner) Palagonia. He had in the past attended St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Whitehall. Charlie proudly served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 before he was honorably discharged. He served on the USS Bennington CVA 20 and the USS Vernon AMS38 "Minie Sweeper". Charlie was the General Manager of the George Washington Motor Lodge for many years. He was also the Treasurer and tax collector of Whitehall Twp during the 1970's and 1980's. He was a Trustee for Lehigh- Carbon Community College, past chairman and board member of the Lehigh Co. Vocational Technical School and served as on the advisory board the food service department, Past President of Whitehall Twp. Zoning Board, past treasurer of Whitehall Historic Association, he was a member and past president of Whitehall Rotary Club, Whitehall Chamber of Commerce and member of Presidents club of Allentown Cahmber of Commerce. He was a past director and president of Lehigh County Convention and Tourist Bureau, past president of County Taverns Association, past president and trustee of Whitehall Library, past president of the Whitehall Planning Commission and past board member of Allentown Mayor's Youth Employment Program. Charlie was also a past president and member of Bermuda Trap and Skeet Club. Charlie was a member of Greenleaf Lodge No. 561 F& AM and member of Rajah Shriners. In his retirement Charlie worked part time at Saucon Valley Country Club. He was an avid golfer and although playing for many years he never got a hole in one. He also enjoyed snow and water skiing, rollerblading and playing bridge. Charlie was an avid animal lover and loved his dogs and birds, who will miss him dearly. Survivors: wife Nikki as well as their puppies; sisters in law Susan Zambelli and her husband Michael, Tina Fatzinger and her husband Mark; mother in law Betty Gallucci. He was predeceased by his son Jay. Services: 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 11 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown. Calling hour will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Grandview Mausoleum. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, c/o the funeral home.

The USS Bennington is now on station preparing for your final journey. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation“s defender.
