Daniel Weiser Obituary

Daniel "Rocky" W. Weiser, 82, beloved husband of Joanna A. (Schultz) Weiser, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, surrounded in love by Joanna and Debbie. Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Daniel G. Weiser and Jennie (Kolb) Weiser. Danny was a graduate of Boyertown High School class of 1960. He then proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 in the Pershing Missile division. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball in his youth and he was a long-time member of Trinity Church in Boyertown where he was a player/manager of the church softball team for 35 years. Rocky was a 60-year member of IBEW Local 126 where he worked as a ground hand and winch truck operator. Rocky met Joanna at Longacre's Dairy where she must have made the best chocolate milkshake ever, because they were married one year later! Rocky & Joanna were in Germany together during the time of his service. Once home they enjoyed spending time with their extended families, going to movies, following the Pottstown Band directed by brother Charles, and Joanna would always be in the stands watching Rocky play basketball. They enjoyed family vacations in Ocean City, NJ with Debbie & Julie every summer and the family were fixtures at Bear Stadium cheering on the Boyertown Bears American Legion baseball team. Rocky and Joanna ran and operated the Hofbrau Jr. refreshment stand at Zern's Market for many years. Rocky was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan and being an avid baseball fan, he could always be found watching a game on the TV at home. Rocky enjoyed working on sudoku puzzles and some quiet time while mowing his lawn. He was always very supportive of his daughter Julie's sports and his daughter Debbie's band concerts. Rocky loved watching Deb perform with the Boyertown Alumni Marching Unit. Rocky's (Pop-Pop's) precious grandchildren Justin and Jayla, would each spend countless hours with him and Grandma while spending part of their summer vacations in Pennsylvania. Many cherished memories were made swimming in the backyard pool, playing board games, visiting extended family, going to watch Boyertown Bears and Philadelphia Phillies baseball games, playing baseball & basketball, and of course, the sound of laughter rang through the house and every place they went. Pop-Pop loved cheering for Justin & Jayla as he watched Justin play baseball and Jayla play basketball with their teams in Florida and he was so proud of both of them. Surviving along with his loving wife, Joanna of 60 years, is his daughter Debbie, of Gilbertsville; daughter Julie, of Florida; brother Charles Weiser, husband of Anne; brother-in-law Jim Peck, husband of the late Mary; grandchildren Justin and Jayla; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00AM at Trinity Church (250 Swinehart Rd, Boyertown, PA 19512) with Pastor Les Cool officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A viewing will also be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 9:30AM-11:00AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Church or to the Boyertown Alumni Marching Unit (PO Box 193, Boyertown, PA 19512) in Daniel's name.
