Donald Bartashus Obituary

Donald John Bartashus, 80, of Reading, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Linda Grace (Diefenderfer) Bartashus whom he married January 13, 1968. Born May 22, 1945, he was the son of the late John Bartashus and Julia (Boresky) Bartashus. Donald was a 1962 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. After finishing school he worked at Garden State Tannery for 42 years as an R&D technician and production manager. In Donald's free time he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors. He would spend 300 out of the 365 days of the year doing these activities. He enjoyed going on hunting and fishing trips with his wife Linda. Their favorite place to go was Alaska and Kodiak Island. If Donald wasn't hunting or fishing he would be spending time in his garden where he planted anything that could grow. What brought him true joy was spending time with his family. One son is surviving, Rodney Bartashus, husband of Melodie (Pacharis) of Hamburg, PA. Donald is also survived by two grandchildren, Jason Bender and McKalin Paul. Also surviving are three great grandchildren: Raeynn Paul; Rowan Bender; and Avery Oberholser. Two siblings are also surviving, Brian Bartashus of Mohrsville, and Paulette Bartashus of Blandon. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
