Doris Jenkins Obituary
Doris Valerie Jenkins, of Bethlehem Township, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at Northampton Post Acute in Easton, at the age of 86. Born on April 19, 1939, in Czechoslovakia, Doris's journey led her to a life rich in family, work, and the simple pleasures that knit the fabric of a well-lived life.
Doris's story is one of resilience and love. She was the cherished wife of George J.F. Jenkins, Jr., with whom she shared 41 years of marriage until his passing in 2001. Together, they built a life founded on mutual respect and affection. Her parents, Vinzenz and Valerie Kieswetter, instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion, which she carried throughout her life. Though they, along with her sister Gerda Curcio, preceded her in death, their influence remained a guiding force.
Her legacy is lovingly carried on by her daughter, Ingeborg Jenkins of Bethlehem Township, who reflects the strength and kindness of her mother. Doris's role as Oma was one she held dear, sharing her wisdom and laughter with granddaughter Claudia Martinez, her husband Austin, and her great-granddaughter Georgia Lynn, all of Denton, TX. Her siblings, Ingeborg Wells of Colorado, Volkmar Kieswetter and his companion Marianne, and Klause Kieswetter all of Germany, along with her brother-in-law Frank Curcio of Easton, will remember her fondly, as will her many nieces and nephews who were touched by her generosity and spirit.
Professionally, Doris dedicated many years to housekeeping, eventually retiring as a supervisor from Phoebe Nursing Home in Allentown. Her work was a testament to her attention to detail and her commitment to caring for others. Her colleagues will remember her as a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom in the workplace.
Doris's interests were a reflection of her nurturing soul. She found joy in knitting and crocheting, creating warm treasures for those she loved. Her garden was a canvas of color and life, tended with the same care she gave to her family and friends. Walking with her dogs was not just exercise but an expression of her connection to nature and the companionship of her furry friends. Traveling with her husband brought her great joy, as they explored new places and made memories together.
Above all, Doris's unwavering commitment to her family remains her most enduring legacy. She was the cornerstone of support, helping to raise her granddaughter Claudia and becoming her steadfast 'personal taxi,' ensuring Claudia's engagement in school and extracurricular activities. Doris's love and dedication knew no bounds, and her absence will leave an unfillable void in the hearts of those who knew her.
