Dorothy Fryer Obituary

Obituary of Dorothy Pearl Fryer Dorothy Fryer, affectionally known as "Dot", a devoted wife, mother, and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on November 7, 1930, in Monocacy, Berks County, PA, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph Sabo and Julia Doris. She graduated from Spring City High School and lived a life filled with faith, service, and love. Dorothy was a dedicated member of St. Vincent United Church of Christ since 1949. Over the decades, she served in many roles within the church community-Sunday School teacher and superintendent of the adult Sunday School, deacon, elder, and past president of the consistory. Her beautiful voice graced the church choir for 64 years, and she was known for her deep love of singing and flowers. In the 1960s and 70s, Dorothy was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts through Troop 49 in Kimberton. She served as a Den Mother for nine years and was the past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Her dedication to the Scouts earned her recognition and awards from Chester County for her outstanding service. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a loving partner to her husband, J. Warren "Cap" Fryer, with whom she shared many adventures, including cherished camping trips with the Friends on Wheels Club. She also worked outside the home for 15 years at Oaks Elementary School, where she served as food service and cafeteria manager until her retirement on June 6, 1996. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Cap, her son, Richard J. Fryer, her parents, her sister Nancy Ford, and her brother Joseph Sabo. She leaves behind her son, James (Violet). A visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Vincent UCC Church, followed by a service at 10:30 AM with Rev. Hanson officiating. A graveside service will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent UCC Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 454, Phoenixville, PA 19460. Note Dot's name on the check. All arrangements are being handled by Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.sgsfuneralhome.com
