Dorothy Prestia Obituary

Dorothy Ann Prestia passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. Born in Philadelphia on March 14, 1935, she was the beloved daughter to the late Charles and Catherine Hillock (nee McFadden). Upon graduating West Philadelphia Catholic Girls' High School, Dorothy went on to marry her best friend, the late Robert A. Menna. Together they shared 9 years of marriage until his passing in 1962. Despite the challenges of raising three young children as a single parent, Dorothy persevered with class, determination and undeniable strength. Her passionate work ethic, paired with her exceptional intelligence led her to become the first female manager with the Reading Railroad. She later served at Conrail as the manager of food and agriculture until her retirement. Dorothy enjoyed watching the Phillies, Mummers Parades and her favorite movie The Wizard of Oz. She cherished her time in Aruba and at the shore with family and friends. Dorothy later married Thomas A. Prestia and they lovingly blended their families together. Dorothy was a devoted wife, cherished mother to Kathleen Guziewicz (Michael, Sr.), Michael Menna (Rosemary), the late Robert Menna (Susan), Joseph Prestia (Donna), the late Gino Prestia (Kathy/Gayle), and the late Anthony Prestia, dear grandmother to Michael A. Guziewicz, Jr., Megan L. Pinto (Jason), Casey R. Menna and Robert A. Leonard (Christy), great grandmother to Gracie, Simon, Kallie, Chase, Connor, Emmy, Abby and Lily, sister to the late Katherine "Sissy" Dougherty (David), Charlotte Asprino (Dutchy), Charles Hillock (Winnie), George Hillock (Dorothy), sister-in-law to the late Grace McGrory (Jack) and Pauline Scheld (Harry), aunt and cousin to many, and friend to all. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to Dorothy's Life Celebration on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM with her Funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM at Visitation BVM Church, 196 North Trooper Road, Norristown PA. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery of Norristown. Services to the family are entrusted to Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton.
