Eileen Kuntz Obituary
Eileen Marie Kuntz was welcomed into heaven on March 26, 2025. Born in Philadelphia on December 8, 1935, she was a loving daughter to the late Thomas Aloysius and Eileen Theresa Murphy (nee Lyons).
Upon graduating Clayton High School School in 1954, Eileen went on to Charles Morris Price College of Journalism. She then married her best friend and the love of her life, Elmer Joseph Kuntz, Jr. Together they shared 32 years of marriage until his passing in 1990.
Eileen was a devoted wife, cherished mother to Monica M. Nash (John "Jack" T. Nash, Sr.), Kathleen A. Nash (James V. Nash, Jr.), Theresa M. Castaldi (Augustine "Gus" J. Castaldi, Jr.), and Michael J. Kuntz (Christiana "Chrissa" Kuntz), dear Oma to Jack, Emily (Alex), Katie (Nick), Jamie (Lauren), Tom (Amanda), Ashleigh (Cori), Augustine "AJ", Tom, Lillian, great grandmother to James, Teddy, and Wyatt, sister to Rosemary May (the late Cliff), Regina Burgess (the late Merlin), the late Margaret Mary Rose (the late Harry), the late Catherine Devney (Bill), the late Thomas Murphy (the late Josephine), aunt to many and friend to all. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. We find comfort knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband.
Eileen had a heart of gold and devoted her life to being of service to others. In 1972 she took a first aid class and began her journey volunteering with Lower Providence Community Ambulance Service. For 8 years she provided direct support on ambulances, later served on the Board of Directors, and eventually served as the President. Up until her passing, she was still active on the board. Over the past 50 years, Eileen served in a variety of positions at Lower providence Community Ambulance.
From 1984 until 1998, Eileen worked in the Methacton School District as a Special Education aide. She made an indelible impact on her students and remained in touch with them long after her duties were fulfilled at school. Her dedication to providing support to her community was truly a vocation and lifelong commitment.
Eileen was a proud Irish American, and in 1989, she decided to rent a store in Phoenixville. It was here that the Irish Shop was born. In the early 1990s, Eileen bought a home on Pawlings Road in Audubon and relocated her shop. Folks traveled from far and wide to her shop to buy Irish dance shoes and wigs, sweaters, and every imaginable Celtic goodie you could dream of. Her business was a success until her retirement in 2006. She was active in Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Eileen was a special woman who you could always count on for a laugh and a smile. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
May the road rise to meet her, may the wind be always at her back. May the sun shine warm upon her face, the rains fall soft upon her fields and until we meet again, may God hold her in the palm of His hand.
