Fred Cooper Obituary

Fred D. Cooper, 79, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the home of his daughter in East Norriton, Montgomery County. He resided there the last two weeks of his life on hospice and spent his final days surrounded by love. He was the husband of the late Kathryn Marx-Cooper, who passed away on April 14, 2023. Born in Fountain Hill on August 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Frederick and Ann (Beyak) Cooper. Fred faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Okinawa Japan. He was employed as a Crane Operator at the Bethlehem Steel for 29 years until his retirement. After his retirement from the steel, he worked in facility management at Muhlenberg College until 2013. He was of the Catholic faith. Fred led a quiet, simple life. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, watching reruns of M*A*S*H, reading, and completing puzzles. Above all else, his greatest joys in life were creating memories with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. He was thrilled to become a grandfather in 2024, and his grandson was the center of his world. Fred is survived by a daughter, Tonya Cooper (Scott Markind) of East Norriton; grandson, Kaleb Markind; He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas J Cooper. In accordance with his wishes, graveside services will be at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown, held privately, Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. Hellertown.
