Gertrude Walter Obituary

Gertrude L. "Trudy" Walter, 91, of Sinking Spring, passed away Wednesday, July 30th, at her residence. Gertrude was born in Reading on April 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Frieda (Loeper) and Charles Felix and was the widow of Frank C. Walter. She is a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, West Lawn and former member of St. Margaret R.C. Church, Reading. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and earned her certification as a Registered Nurse (RN). She worked as an RN at Dr. Paul Leisawitz's office from 1955 to 1960, Dr. Patricia Innis' office from 1970 to 1974 and then Dr. John Woynarowski's office from 1978 till her retirement in 1998. She was an Associate of the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood. At St. Ignatius parish, she participated in the Resurrection Choir and in hospital visitation. She also volunteered for the MS Walk A Thon. Gertrude is survived by her two daughters, Eileen M. Roth, wife of Mike, of Ephrata; Marianne L. Koenig, wife of Rich, of Host; two sons, Joseph C. Walter, husband of Denise, of Wernersville and Gregg G. Walter, husband of Stacy, of Northampton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Lauren, Ryan, Cory, Kyle, Kurt, Hannah, Christina, Alex, Megan and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Alberta M. (Felix) Wummer and brother, Richard C. Felix. Viewing will be Thursday, August 7th from 9 AM to 10 AM at St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church in West Lawn. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in her memory to Lifeline of Berks County, 612 Reading Ave., W. So very sorry to hear that Trudy passed. I did not hear it at Saturday´s Mass, But Max thought he did. He only mentioned it to me just now. We just got down to the beach, so I won´t be able to make her funeral Mass. Thinking of all of you and prayers for Trudy as she ascends to her heavenly father & those that have gone before her. .
