James Hay Obituary

Jim Hay, a 30 year veteran of the army, passed away on the 23rd April 2025. The son of Lillian and Wilbur Hay, Jim Hay grew up in Tannersville, Pennsylvania. He was born on the 24th of March 1949 and attended Pocono Mountain High School and later East Stroudsburg College. At the age of twenty-three, James Hay enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent thirty years in the army and had attained the rank of Master Sergeant. His role as a Military Journalist led him to be posted at several U.S. bases and even did an oversees stint in Desert Storm. He retired from the military having received several medals, namely for Meritorious Service, Good Conduct and recognized by his own unit for his long-standing service and teamwork. Jim Hay is survived by his sister, Peggy Pomerleau. His loved ones will remember Jim for his commitment to the military. He possessed the ability to recall facts and events easily. His knowledge along with his ability to communicate clearly held him in high regard by his coworkers. Jim had an easy manner about him. That too was greatly appreciated. A graveside service will be held in Stroudsburg at the Laurelwood Cemetary on the 28th of April at 2pm.
