Joan Vough Madison

Joan V. Madison, 86, of East Stroudsburg passed away Monday night, April 28,2025 at her daughter's home while under hospice care. She was the wife of the late Charles P. Madison Sr. with whom she shared 57 years of marriage at the time of his death on June 25, 2014. Born February 17, 1939, in Portland, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Miller) Vough and a longtime resident of Monroe County. Joan had worked as a pastry chef and cook at Wyckoff's Tea Room until its closure. She then went to work at Penn Hills Resort as the dining room manager and various other departments until her retirement. Through the years Joan enjoyed baking and cooking for customers, friends and family. Her delicious food will be remembered by all. She was always willing to share a recipe or give cooking advice when asked. She loved flowers and plants, from beautiful hanging porch baskets to the countless African Violets on her windowsill. Joan adored her family spending many wonderful years raising her children and making memories with her grandchildren. Holidays were always special at the Madison house from the elegant fine China to the festive Christmas dinnerware set. Through the years she made long lasting friendships with countless coworkers, customers and guests from Wyckoff's to Penn Hills. She will always be remembered for her friendly smile, gregarious laugh and adventurous spirit. She is survived by three sons, Steve, Charles Jr., and Dale; daughter, Kayla; brother, Gary; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brother Paul and his wife Carwyn. As per her wishes there will be no services. Cremation was entrusted to the William H. Clark Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
