Pat and I would like to express our condolences to John´s family. John Iverson was a very important mentor and friend throughout my life. I graduated from Liberty High School´s Vo-tec Department in 1960 and in September I was hired as a patent draftsman in Bethlehem Steel´s Research Department. John quickly befriended me and our relationship grew throughout the years. In 1965 I received my draft notice and joined the US Navy Reserves returning to the Patent Department in 1968. In the 1970´s I transferred to Corporate Engineering located in Marten Towers where I gained practical experience at our various steel plants. When John became manager of the Patent Department in the 1980´s, he welcomed me back to his department and began allowing me to write patent applications and respond to office actions. John contacted the Office of Enrollment and Discipline in the Patent Office to register me to take the Patent Bar Exam. Based on my practical experience if I took and passed eight credit hours of either physics or chemistry with a 3.5 grade, I would be allowed to take the eight-hour bar exam in Philadelphia. I passed the exam and became a registered patent agent thanks to John Iverson. My wife Pat and I would like to publicly thank John for helping us to have a very productive and happy life.
Robert J. Miklas, USN.
