Joyce M Eckert

Joyce M. Eckert, a cherished matriarch and long-time resident of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at Advanced Health Care of Hanover, Bethlehem, PA surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 15, 1928, Joyce's 97 years were marked by devotion to her family. Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Russell W. "Butch" Eckert, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage until his passing on May 7, 2009. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and great great grandmother, survived by her daughters Cynthia Eckert, Carol Rutkowski and her husband Joseph, and Cheryl Eckert, all of Bethlehem. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and great great grandson, who will forever hold dear the memories and lessons she imparted. She was born to her late father, Leon Bond, and was raised by her mother, Anna (Grow) Blood and her stepfather, the late Charles Blood, Sr. Joyce was the caring sister to Charles Blood Jr. and his wife Diane of Bethlehem, and Mary Ann Weaver of Bethlehem. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Harrie Blood and Dolores Bond. Joyce's early years were spent in the halls of Hellertown High School, where she graduated and laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She was a member of the former Church of the Manger of Bethlehem and the American Legion of Hellertown. Joyce showed interest in Bingo, scratchers and the casino. Services: A Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 2 P.M. at Union Cemetery of Hellertown- 85 Main Street, Hellertown, PA 18055.
