Kathryn Richardson Obituary

Kathryn Selma (Compton) Richardson, 91, formerly of Wescosville, passed away suddenly Thursday, September 4, 2025 in her daughter's home. Born in Washington D.C. February 7,1934, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Howard Henry and Selma (Johnston) Compton. Kathryn was married to her H.S. sweetheart and love of her life, the late Frederick Joseph Richardson III, for 65 years. She retired from Air Products, Inc. in 2000. She was profoundly proud of the family her and Fred built together and the legacy they left behind. Together they supported their children and grandchildren and loved watching them succeed. Her talents were endless. She was a skilled seamstress who crafted her daughter's wedding dress. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, books, cooking, and entertaining. As one of 13 children, she loved family reunions where great food, pinochle, volleyball, and laughter were some of her favorite pastimes. Kathryn loved to shop and walk on the beach at her condo in Myrtle Beach. Very generous to those less fortunate, she supported many charities and was a member of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Allentown. Her life was one well lived. Survivors: children, Frederick J. Richardson IV (Lori) of Sykesville, MD, Karen M. Topper (Stephen) of Lancaster, Sharon M. Trupia of York, Philip L. Richardson (Jeanne) of Lancaster, Mary K. Reigh (Daniel) of Quakertown; brothers, Vestal Compton of Bowie, MD, Herman Compton of Franklin, DE, Hubert Compton of Franklin, DE, Edward Compton (Earlene) of Baltimore, MD, Donald Compton (Mary) of Cottage City, MD, LeRoy Compton (Connie) of West Virginia; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.
