Kenneth "Ken" Freed, 83, of Souderton, PA entered into rest and went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Grand View Hospital. Ken was the loving husband of Blanche (Yothers) Freed for 62 years. He was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Naomi (Freed) Markley. Ken attended Souderton Area High School. He worked as a truck driver for the former Guy Heavener Company in Harleysville, PA. He then served as a hospital orderly in I-W in Hanover, NH. He later worked as a deliveryman for the former Groff's Candy Company in Souderton, PA. He worked as a printer for the former Nyce Printing Company in Vernfield, PA and then for National Label Company in Lafayette Hill, PA for 40 years. Ken was a lifelong member of Towamencin Mennonite Church where he formerly served as an audio technician, youth group leader, and participated in special music events. He was a member of Great Swamp Fish & Game in Quakertown, PA. He volunteered with Mennonite Resource Center in Souderton, PA. Ken loved spending time with his family and his grandson. He also loved annual fishing trips to Canada with his sons and grandson. He had a close relationship with his uncles and enjoyed outdoor activities with them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, camping, gardening, singing, playing his Hawaiian Steel guitar, milk bottle collecting, listening to Bluegrass & Gospel music and playing card games with family and friends. Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and he loved the Lord. He was a loving, warm, humble, passionate, caring, sincere man who had a good sense of humor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Kevin Freed & wife, Kelly of Willow Street, PA, Steve Freed & wife, Wanda of Souderton, PA, Philip Freed & wife, Amy of Perkiomenville, PA; his grandson, Kodey Freed of Perkiomenville, PA; his two sisters, Mary Lou Cleaver of Bechtelsville, PA, Christine Graybeal & husband, John of Annville, PA, and his sister-in-law, Carol Markley of Silverdale, PA. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn F. Markley and his brother-in-law, Tom Cleaver. A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am at Towamencin Mennonite Church, 1980 Sumneytown Pike, Kulpsville, PA 19443, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
