Kenneth Mangle Obituary

Kenneth "Pop" Mangle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 13, 1938, Ken lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to those he held dear. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Jean (Bunsek) Mangle, his dear children Michelle Kossey (Jim), Mary McNamara (Steve), and Ken Mangle (Dina), and his treasured grandchildren: Katelyn, Sean, Jackie, Brendan, and Matt. He was predeceased by his parents, Ira and Ethel (Huffmaster) Mangle, and his sisters Mary Agnes and Louise. A graduate of Pittston High School and the Franklin School of Science and Arts with a degree in X-ray Technology, Ken proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service, he built a successful career in the insulation business with Acoustical Spray Insulators. Ken was an active member of the South Allentown Optimist Club and one of the founding members of the Herm-Nel Hunt Club. He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors - hunting, fishing, and family trips to the beach and the lake were among his favorite pursuits. Ken's proudest accomplishment was his family. A legacy that began in high school when he asked his Jeanne to dance. From their early days together, to cherished time with his grandchildren, his family meant everything to him. He focused on providing for his family, teaching strong values, and setting an example through hard work and loyalty. As time went on, he and Jeanne built some of their fondest memories cruising and with their growing family. Whether it was a big family gathering or just a quiet evening on the porch with Jeanne, watching birds and counting lightning bugs, Ken could be found wearing his "coming and going" hat and enjoying his time with the people he loved most. Ken had a natural charm and an adventurous spirit. With a quick smile, a sparkle in his eye, and an uncanny ability to make people feel seen and valued, he made fast friends wherever he went. He was a hard worker, a source of wisdom, and a man who loved life. In his final moments, Ken continued to teach and protect, leaving behind not just memories, but lessons in love, strength, and humility. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, April 30th at J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 1601 Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18102. Viewing hours will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, followed by a prayer service and burial at Resurrection Cemetery, 547 Krocks Rd, Allentown, PA 18106. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Miller Memorial Blood Bank https://www.giveapint.org/how-to-make-gift/, a cause that helped Ken to have comfort in his final days.

Ken was my mentor at age 20. He taught me everything regarding spray applied insulation. He was patient, always kind, always calling me Bozo. Not sure why! He was thrilled when I broke off and started Retrotherm. Always checking in. He taught me strong work ethics and honesty. We went hunting and fishing together. Great times when working out of town. A lot of my fondest memories are with Kenny. I often went over to his house as a young lad to hang out with Ken and Jean. Just had to wait for him to get out of the tub! He loved his tubby time! I only wish I had spent more time with him as I got older. I'm gonna miss his comforting smile, laughter, and friendship. God got one of the good ones. Dance with the angels my friend. Till we meet again Bozo!
