Latrisia Johnson Obituary
Latrisia Stephanie Johnson, age 55, of Effort, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital Columbia & Cornell in New York City, NY.
Born on July 27, 1970, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Hood and Willie Mae Taylor. She grew up in a close-knit family with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all living on the same block.
She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1989. Afterward she attended Farmingdale University and York College. Although she did not graduate, she gained two lifelong friends in Kayanne Denize and Martha Vivar respectively.
Latrisia was the loving wife of Darryl K. Johnson. The two celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on August 7, 2025.
Latrisia worked as a supervisor for GHI Insurance Company in New York City for nine years before devoting her time to her family as a loving homemaker. She was known for her incredible decorating and cooking skills and took pride in creating a home filled with warmth and hospitality.
Her favorite pastimes included crabbing, fishing, gardening, cooking, crafting, traveling, and enjoying trips to the casino, concerts, and live shows-each reflecting her creativity, adventurous spirit, and joy for life.
To her beloved husband Darryl, she was not only a partner but a best friend-a steady source of laughter, comfort, and joy. As a mother, she was a constant and caring presence, always ready with a smile, a listening ear, or a hug that could make everything feel right. As a daughter and sister, she brought pride, support, and unwavering love to those around her.
Latrisia leaves behind a legacy of love-of time well spent, stories told, laughter shared, and the unbreakable bonds of family. She is known for always lending a helping hand or ear to anyone and she was never afraid to give her opinion
She is survived by her loving husband, Darryl K. Johnson of Effort, PA; her daughters, Shantelle Davis and spouse Brian of Kunkletown, PA, and twins Arielle and Ashley Johnson of Effort, PA.
She is also survived by her siblings: Erick Leroy Brown (Yvonne) of Gilbert, PA; Roy Hood (Dorothy) of Spokane, WA; Carlalene King (Guy) of Alexandria, VA; Vernetta Holliman (Larry) of Charlotte, NC; Rickey Hood of Charlotte, NC; Maurisa Chase (Ricardo) of Roanoke, VA; and Zanida Scott of Charlotte, NC. Her surrogate parents Alvin and Mattie Williams of Effort, PA; mother-in-law Deanna Horton (James) of Queens, NY; father-in-law Charles Johnson (Rebecca) of Fayetteville, NC; as well as numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Alphonso Brown, Celialee Hood, Ronnie Hood, and Katrina Hood.
Latrisia was joyfully anticipating the arrival of her first grandchild, due in January 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1426 Route 209, Gilbert, PA. Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
