Laura Mae Steinruck Stewart Obituary

Laura Mae Steinruck Stewart, 98, of Bethlehem, PA died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was the loving wife of Doyle T. Steinruck for 49 years and 5 months before his death in 1996. Born in Main Township, Columbia County, PA, Laura was the daughter of the late James L. and Iva M. (George) Boyer. After graduation from Bloomsburg High School in 1944, Laura had many different career opportunities. She was a waitress at Howard Johnsons and was a model and sales clerk at JC Penney and the former Hess's. After retiring from the retail sales industry, she worked the gate at Pine Haven Campground in New Jersey. She eventually was asked to run the store before she moved to Florida for 25 years. After returning to Pennsylvania in 2006, Laura became a member of First Baptist Church, Bethlehem. In her early years she taught Sunday School. She was also a former volunteer at the Phoebe Home and she delivered for Meals on Wheels. Laura loved parties and entertaining. She was a great dancer and enjoyed Polka Music at Music Fest. She enjoyed lunch with family and friends and playing pinochle with her husband and friends. In her golden years, she enjoyed traveling to Florida and Cape Cod. Laura loved volunteering at the Cape Cod Thrift Shop. Whether traveling, shopping or going out to lunch with family and friends, Laura could spot lost coins and paper money no matter where she was going. She had an eagle eye. It became a game for her to find lost money.
