Margot Vagliardo Obituary
Dr. Margot Waddington Vagliardo, 77, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Lehigh Valley Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of James J. Vagliardo with whom she shared 62 years of courtship and marriage. Born in Oneonta, New York, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Frances Waddington.
Margot worked as an educator for learners of all ages at Johnson City Schools, Oneonta University, Binghamton University and East Stroudsburg University. She was an avid traveler and visited many places throughout the world in her exploration for more knowledge and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Margot was a lover of all animals and advocated for their safety and humane treatment. She also fought for women's rights and was involved with the election board for Monroe County. Her passion for the history of Stroudsburg led her to be an active member of the Monroe County Historical Association. Margot was a lover of the arts, being an artist herself. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, playing with her grandchildren, traveling and establishing life-long friendships. She could often be found sewing or tending to her garden in her spare time. Margot left a lasting impression on everyone she met, whether it was through education or her public service. Her love of travel has bridged friendships worldwide.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughters: Kristen Vagliardo; Courtney Vagliardo; brother: George R. Waddington, Jr.; grandchildren: Zara and Grey Adams; and many beloved animals including: Skylar; Dehlia; Chessie and the Monroe Mouse.
