Mary DeBellis Obituary

Mary Ann (Huhn) DeBellis, a cherished Wife, Mother, Gram, and Great-Gram, passed away on May 20, 2025. She passed peacefully with grace and elegance at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 29, 1942, in Allentown, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Alof) Huhn. She was grateful to have found her soulmate early in life. Together with John DeBellis, they shared more than 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and faith. Mary Ann graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School. She and John started their life partnership as young entrepreneurs, acquiring a commercial real estate and apartment building in Fountain Hill. They welcomed three daughters and built a home in Bethlehem Township where they raised their girls. Mary Ann was a proud homemaker and her girls were the center of her universe. She thrived as an active mother in Girl Scouts, becoming a troop leader and lifelong member. She was proud to have nurtured and mentored countless young girls. She was also involved in the PTA, Bethlehem Township Bulldogs, school band and color guard. Mary Ann was an active member of her community always helping, leading, and serving. She was a lifelong member of the International Association of the Miraculous Medal and Planned Parenthood. Mary Ann's high school friends were her lifelong friends. Mary Ann enjoyed cooking and entertaining, gardening, sewing and traveling. She meticulously planned every family vacation ensuring that John and the girls experienced points of interest, history and fun. Mary Ann started a career in administrative and technology support earning an associate degree from Northampton Community College. She last worked at Bank of America in Information Technology. When the girls were grown, Mary Ann and John built their dream home in Bethlehem where they lived for 17 years. In retirement, they left for the sunny skies of Venice, Florida for 17 enjoyable years with old and new friends, family, and time on the Gulf and the Intracoastal on their boat. With John, Mary Ann traveled the world – from the Caribbean to the Fjords, to Beijing and Shanghai, an African safari and more! Her favorite trips were a Rhine River cruise and multiple visits to Germany, where her parents were born, and where she discovered and connected with her roots and family abroad. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Mary Ann's faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout her life especially in the last 10 years as she bravely, gracefully, and with determination, faced the challenges of her condition. Mary Ann will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her generous heart, beautiful soul, and the joy she brought to those around her. George and Barbara Scherer

May 27, 2025

I remember Mary Ann from a long time ago when John and my husband George were in the US Navy. She was pregnant with Nancy at the time. She always had a smile on her face. Later in life we worked together for a short time at Lehigh University. Our deepest condolences and prayers for John and their family at this difficult time. She is no longer suffering and is with her Lord in Heaven. One day you will all be together again. Blessings, Barb and George Scherer, Apollo Beach, Florida
