Norman Detweiler Obituary

Norman S. Detweiler, 83, of Sellersville-formerly of Telford, PA-went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his residence in the Community at Rockhill, Sellersville, PA. He was the devoted husband of Betty June (Eigsti) Detweiler, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Norman was born in Sellersville, PA, to the late Roland Detweiler and the late Eva (Schueck) Detweiler. A 1959 graduate of Souderton High School, Norman served in the early 1960s through 1-W Alternative Service at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, CO. He later worked as a skilled welder and fabricator for Hatfield Quality Meats for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2020. A longtime member of Towamencin Mennonite Church, Norman served faithfully as an audio technician and a member of the worship team, using his musical gifts to bless others. Norman was a hardworking man known for his ability to repair just about anything. He took pride in his craftsmanship and loved his work. He had a quirky sense of humor, a deep passion for playing guitar, and was a member of the Ridge Valley Singers gospel group during the 1970s. He remained actively engaged in his children's hobbies and interests, always offering his support and encouragement. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty June; his daughter, Jan Scardino and husband Erik of Souderton, PA; his two sons, Don Detweiler and wife Tara of Pennsburg, PA, and Kevin Detweiler and wife Shannon of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren-Conrad, Autumn, Landon, Serena, Kaitlyn, Mikayla, Zachary, Emma, and Jacob-and five great-grandchildren: Kyla, Cordelia, Rosina, Caden, and Eliah. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Floyd Detweiler of Hot Springs, AR, and his sister, Ethel Yutzy and husband Clayton of Littleton, CO. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Seewald, and three brothers: Henry, Stanley, and Donald Detweiler. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Towamencin Mennonite Church, 1980 Sumneytown Pike, Kulpsville, PA 19443. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
