Patricia Rauck Obituary
Patricia Rauck, age 77, of Hatfield, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born at Fort Knox, KY, Pat was a proud "army brat," whose military family moved around the country several times - including a stint living in a Quonset hut at Alaska's Big Delta Army Base - before settling in Floyds Knobs, IN, where she spent most of her formative years. After graduating from New Albany High School in 1966, she started nursing school at Spalding University in Louisville KY - a path she would continue to pursue after marrying her husband Bob in 1968 and while raising their two young children. Upon relocating to Lansdale, PA, in 1972, she finished her nursing degree at Gwynedd Mercy College and went on to work in several local nursing homes and private duty assignments. The majority of her career was spent working at Lansdale's North Penn Hospital in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and on the Medical/Surgical floor. If you were lucky enough to be one of her patients, you knew that you had a surrogate mom and staunch advocate in your corner. Always. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and Mimi to her 4 grandkids, embracing every opportunity she had to babysit, attend a sporting event, or just pop in to say hello. Whether her grandchildren were near or far, not a single holiday or special occasion went by without them receiving a thoughtful gift or a greeting card filled with cash and sticks of chewing gum. She delighted in their accomplishments and bragged on them every chance she had. Pat was a smart, caring, convicted woman known for her great sense of humor and signature Southern twang (if she called you "shug" - short for sugar - it was a sure sign that she liked you). She was quick to support causes she cared about or help a friend in need. She had a knack for striking up conversations with strangers wherever she went, finding easy connections and common ground to laugh about. She never met a stray animal she wouldn't take in, feed, or care for. She loved gardening and was a voracious reader. Pat is survived by her husband Robert, son Bob, and daughter Lisa (Joe); grandchildren Joseph, Abigail, Jack, and Leo; and sisters Linda Baumann and Dorothy Darst (Tony), as well as her beloved nieces and nephews, and an extensive group of lifelong friends whom she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents Roscoe and Viola Corley and brother Kenneth Corley. If you would like to honor Pat's life, please donate to a cause you care about or do something kind for someone in need. A private celebration of her life will be planned at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
