Ralph L. Leatherman

Ralph L. Leatherman, 80, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Telford, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. Ralph was the loving husband of Patricia Ann (Alderfer) Leatherman for 59 years. He was born in Souderton, PA to the late Samuel D. Leatherman and the late Ada B. (Lewis) Leatherman. Ralph graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, class of 1963. As ateenager, he began working on his neighbor's farm, Floyd Hackman in Elroy, PA. He then worked at the former North Penn Hide in Souderton, PA. In 1965, he served in I-W service at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA. He worked as the head of the maintenance for the Spruce Lake Retreat in Canadensis, PA. He was then employed as a HVAC Installer & Serviceman for the former Norman G. Good Inc. Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning for 44 years. Ralph volunteered for Spruce Lake Retreat, Bethany Birches, Souderton Mennonite Homes, and Mennonite Disaster Service. He was a member of Frederick Mennonite Church where he served as a trustee, elder, grounds keeper, and taught Sunday school. Ralph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed going to the grandchildren's activities. He also enjoyed hunting, mowing lawn at church, cooking & baking, vegetable gardening, playing games at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, cornhole, Wii Bowling and playing pool. Ralph was a hardworking and caring man who loved his family deeply, was a generous giver, and loved to serve others. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Brian S. Leatherman of Colorado Springs, CO, Randy D. Leatherman & wife, Wendy of Milford Square, PA; his daughter, Tara Y. Gilmore & husband, Alan of Quakertown, PA; his eight grandchildren – Brianne, Brent, Zachary, Danae, Ryan, Jared, Natalie, Travis; his four great-grandchildren – Finnley, Gavin, Bodie & Shaylee; and his brother, David L. Leatherman of Souderton, PA. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Leatherman and his two sisters, Mary & Nancy Leatherman. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 pm.
