Richard Lyons Obituary

Allentown, PA It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Lyons, who left this world peacefully surrounded by his family on February 15, 2025, at the age of 74. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he touched the lives of so many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Born and raised in Massapequa, Long Island, New York, Richard built a life centered around family, friends, hard work, and the simple joys that made each day special. He was the beloved husband of Lori, his soulmate and best friend for 53 years, a love story that began in childhood and stood the test of time. Together, they created a beautiful family and a legacy of love that will live on forever. A dedicated father to Michelle (Nauman), Jeff (Marla), David (Zivile), and Peter (Nicole), he instilled in his children the values of integrity, perseverance, and the importance of family. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren, and he recently welcomed his first great-granddaughter, embracing each role with unending joy and devotion. Richard was a man of many passions. He was a fierce competitor on the pickleball court, a dedicated golfer who always held out hope that a lost ball was actually in the hole, an avid biker, and a history buff who could recount every detail of the Civil War. He took pride in a well-manicured lawn, loved a perfectly grilled flank steak on a summer evening, and never turned down a good meal and a glass of cabernet. His love for the Yankees was unwavering, and he could often be found outside on his patio, listening to the broadcast on his Amazon Alexa. More than anything, he loved traveling with his bride and family to Ocean City, New Jersey, where together they spent decades creating immeasurable memories. Throughout his career as a sales leader, he was known not only for his success but for his deep love of people. He approached everything with passion, humor, and an unmatched work ethic, yet always remained true to his belief that time spent with family and friends was the greatest priority. Above all, Richard loved his family. He loved nothing more than seeing his children and grandchildren play in the backyard while grilling on his Weber. He was the rock, the ultimate passionate storyteller; the man who never wavered in his love and devotion to the people that mattered most. His legacy will live on in the countless memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he poured into those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered. What a great neighbor. I really enjoyed our talks over the fence. I´m sad I won´t see Rich anymore but I have fond memories of our times we spent talking. He and Lori were always kind to my family and he won´t be forgotten.

Rich is a pickleball friend from Florida . He was very good with the slam. Occasionally I actually saw the ball go by me. No way I could return. Great fun to be with and a great friend. He will be missed by his Florida PB friends.

Lori and Family,
Very sorry for your loss. He was a great person and I always looked forward to catching up with him on my walks around the neighborhood. I recall many great memories at your holiday parties and him always taking the time to get caught up and ask about our kids and their activities. He will surely be missed and we are sorry about his passing. God Bless you all and remember him as the great man he was.
