The daughter of Elizabeth Ann (Clarke) Lyons and Philip Thomas Lyons, Rita was raised in a lively home alongside her siblings: Philip T. Lyons, Emmette Lyons, Joseph Lyons, Margaret Wierbach, Catherine Chandler, Helen Lyons, Elizabeth Bartholomew, Rosemary Fahy, Francis Lyons, and Patrick Lyons. This vibrant family instilled in her a deep sense of unity and support, values she carried forward throughout her life.
A proud alumna of Bethlehem Catholic High School, Rita forged enduring friendships and cultivated a profound connection to her community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and as a devoted member of St. Anne's Church, she found both comfort and purpose in her spiritual life.
Professionally, Rita shone as a sales clerk at Orr's Department Store, where her warm smile and attentive care left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Her genuine kindness and dedication elevated even the simplest interactions into moments of connection.
Rita's heart and soul were devoted to her family. She shared 59 extraordinary years of marriage with her late husband, Robert F. Moretz, building a life brimming with love, joy, and mutual aspiration. Together, they raised their daughter, Maria Dischinat, and her husband Edward of Nazareth, and their son, William D. Moretz of Bethlehem. As a mother, Rita was a nurturing presence, imparting lessons of compassion, resilience, and the enduring importance of family-values her children will forever hold dear.
Renowned for her exceptional baking, Rita's kiffles were a cherished delight, their delicate layers a symbol of the care she poured into every endeavor.
