Robert Haas Obituary

Robert A. Haas, 85, of Palmer Township, formerly of New Ringgold, PA, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Country Meadows, Bethlehem. Born January 7, 1940, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Stanford A. and Mary (Capanna) Haas. He graduated from Easton High School, Class of 1957 where he played football and baseball. He honorably served with the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter, marksman and combat engineer. Bob retired from Mack Trucks, Allentown, where he worked for 46 years as an engineer and draftsman. He was a member of Brown & Lynch American Legion Post 9 and the NRA. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and taking the back roads. His favorite spots for dining out included Marblehead Grill & Chowder House, The Breakfast Table and Stemie's 1818 Tavern. Surviving are three daughters, Lisa J. Vargas and her husband Mario and Lori L. Haas and her partner Ted Lewis, both of Phoenix, AZ and Lynda M. Christel and her husband Robert, of St. Johns, FL and six grandchildren, Alyx, Caden, Carsyn, Colten, Daniel and Ashley. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas H. Haas, who passed away in 1955. Services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 14, in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Call Thursday 9:30-10:30am in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Memorial gifts may be made to Brown & Lynch American Legion Post 9, 2260 Corriere Road, Easton, PA 18045.

We were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. We often enjoyed his company at our favorite restaurants, as well, Marblehead and the 1818 Tavern. Condolences to the family. He'll surely be missed. RIP, B.O.B.
