Ruth "Dare" Broughton

Ruth "Dare" Broughton, affectionately known as Dare, passed away at the age of 75 in North Wales on April 19, 2025. Born on May 21, 1949, in Durham, NC, Dare was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth (Wall) Crabtree. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold S. Broughton. Dare was a dedicated member of Central Schwenkfelder Church in Lansdale, reflecting her deep spirituality and commitment to her faith. She was an avid reader with a profound love for books, and she cherished traveling, especially her visits to North Carolina. Above all, Dare treasured her family and grandchildren, always prioritizing their joy and well-being. Dare is survived by her two children, Stephen V. Broughton (Pamela) of Pottstown and Krystal R. Broughton of North Wales. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren: Ryan Klem, Samantha, Tyler, and Alyssa Broughton. She is also mourned by her brother, Albert Crabtree of Durham, NC, and her sister-in-laws: Barbara Crabtree, Durham, NC, Judy Spencer of Greenville, NC, and Pamela Andrews of Oxford, NC. A viewing for Dare will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Central Schwenkfelder Church, located at 2111 S. Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale, PA 19446. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, with her burial taking place at the Garden of Memories cemetery. The family requests no flowers.
