Thomas Brown Jr. Obituary

Thomas Edward Brown Jr., 54, of Pottstown, PA, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Mitzie M. (Chrisman) Brown for 24 years. Born on March 15, 1971, in Norristown, PA, Thomas was the son of Thomas E. Brown Sr. and Jan (Ziegler) Brown, and the stepson of Linda Brown. Tom graduated from Upper Merion Area High School in 1988 and dedicated his career to Ironworkers Local 401 in Philadelphia, PA. A proud Philadelphia sports fan, he could often be found cheering on the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. He loved coaching baseball for both Little League and the Pottstown PAL Baseball travel team, as well as coaching football for Pottstown PAL and Pottsgrove. Tom wasn't just there for his own boys-he was there for all the kids, and many became like family to him. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially tending his vegetable garden, canning the harvest, and playing quoits at the Pottstown German Club and the Pottstown Quoit Club. Music was another passion; he loved his rock 'n' roll, taught himself to play guitar in his spare time, and built a collection of hundreds of CDs over the years, with Metallica among his favorites. Tom also enjoyed collecting different kinds of knives. When it was time to relax, he liked taking his dogs for walks and sitting by the fire. Tom is survived by his wife, Mitzie Brown; his children, Brock Brown and Blake Brown; his stepchildren, Robert Fausnaught Jr. and Ron Fausnaught; his grandchildren, Conner, Emma, and Colton; and his brothers, Michael (Ashley) Brown, Damian (Melissa) Brown, and Kevin Groff. He is also survived by his dogs, Rocky and Scrappy, who first came into his life as foster pets and quickly became beloved family members. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 3:00 p.m. Afterwards, everyone is invited to continue celebrating Tom's life with good food, drinks, and shared memories. Guests are encouraged to dress casually. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to Stretch the Ride.
