Thomas Pappas Obituary

Thomas G. Pappas, age 68, of Salisbury Township, passed away on December 24, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest in Allentown. Born in Holyoke, MA, he was a son of the late George and Anne (Wasilenko) Pappas. He was the loving husband of Cindy E. (Schmick) Pappas with whom he shared 42 and a half years of marriage. He graduated from South Hadley High School in 1973. He earned his Associate's Degree from Springfield Technical Community College in 1975. He worked as an HVAC Service Technician for many years and continued to service the homes of family and friends into retirement, even up through December 2024. Thomas had many hobbies – he was a member of Wheels of Time, enjoyed classic cars often winning awards at car shows, rode motocross and snowmobiles, and was a lifelong hockey player, coaching both of his sons' teams. He loved music and enjoyed attending concerts with his sons and friends. He also had a passion for animals and rescued several cats over the years, some of which became beloved family members. Thomas had a special talent for making friends anywhere he went, and could easily pass hours in conversation with anyone. He could be picked out of a crowd by his signature facial hair. Thomas is survived by his wife Cindy E. Pappas; sons, Nick Pappas and his wife Fallon and Corey Pappas and his significant other Emilie; grandsons, Wyatt and Henry and brother, Jeff Pappas and his significant other Candy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus, PA 18049. I have no idea why I thought about Tommy a couple of weeks ago and decided to look him up. I was shocked to find this obit. My sincere condolences. Tommy and I worked together at Diamond Power. Long ago. Must be 40 years now. Why out of the clear blue I thought about him? I have no idea. We have had no contact. Diamond was an awful company and neither of us liked the job. But we did have some fun working together. I am so sorry for your loss.

Annual tune-ups on my furnace were done by Tom for many years when he worked for an oil supplier. Tom was always pleasant, friendly and efficient. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your family´s loss. Tom coached my nephew, Nathan Keeler, many years ago when he and some fellow dads formed the now defunked Lehigh Valley Thunder team. He was a strong example for the boys to not only teach them hockey skills, but life skills as well. Rest in Peace and God´s Speed!
