Van Banh Obituary

Van Minh Banh was born on November 11, 1929, in Viet Tri, Vietnam, the second of three children to Pang Ghou Foe and Wang Shie Hang. By 1960, Banh was a young business owner in Saigon; that year, he married Phuc Thi Ly, who became his loving wife of 65 years. Following the Vietnam War, in 1987, he immigrated with his family to the United States. Settling in central Pennsylvania, he worked for a medical practice and then at Messiah University before retiring in his late 70s. He lived in Harrisburg until his retirement. While there, he was a longtime committee member and volunteer at Pham Hoa Temple in Columbia, PA. Upon retiring, he moved to the Lehigh Valley in order to be closer to his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. There, he was active at Chua Linh Quang Temple in Telford, PA. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Bao Quoc Banh; daughter, Joanne Banh Stewart and her husband, Thomas; grandson, Henry Glasgow Stewart; goddaughter, Nguyen Thi Tu Quyen, and her son, Trinh Chan Hung; and his other nephews and nieces both near and far. He is predeceased by a second son, Quoc Phong Banh. Van Banh passed away after a brief illness on July 25th at his home in Salisbury Township surrounded by his family. Viewing and Buddhist Services will be held 3:30-6 PM Sunday, August 3 and 11 AM-1 PM Monday, August 4 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown. www.BKRFH.com
